Hearts Ablaze: Discovering God’s Light in Every Heart follows Finnel, a small firefly born with a dim glow who wonders if his light will ever matter. As he grows from the quiet soil of the forest into the wide night sky, Finnel faces storms, doubt, unkind peers, and moments of fear that test his courage and faith. Along the way, he learns that true light is not about shining the brightest, but about shining with purpose, compassion, and trust in God.

Through friendships with other fireflies and a gentle bond with a group of children, Finnel discovers that God shapes every heart carefully and uses even the smallest glow to bring hope, warmth, and joy to others. His journey reveals that when we share our light instead of hiding it, God can turn it into something radiant.
This tender, faith-filled story invites readers of all ages to embrace who they are, trust God’s timing, and let their light shine in a world that needs it.

I wrote Hearts Ablaze because I believe light matters.
Not the loud kind. Not the kind that demands attention. But the steady, faithful light that shows up when things are dark, when someone feels small, unseen, or unsure of who they are.
This story grew out of a deep love for Scripture and a deep concern for hearts—especially young hearts—that are learning who they are in a world that constantly compares, rushes, and pressures them to shine in ways they were never meant to. I have seen how easy it is for children, and adults too, to believe that their value depends on being brighter, faster, or more impressive than others. God tells a different story.

In the Bible, God speaks light into existence. He forms every creature with care. He places His light not just in the sky, but in hearts. Scripture reminds us that we are His workmanship, created on purpose, for good works prepared in advance. That truth is the foundation of this book.
Finnel’s journey is not about becoming something he is not. It is about discovering who he already is in God’s design. His struggles, his growth, his doubts, and his courage reflect the spiritual journey we all walk. Through storms, waiting seasons, and moments of fear, God remains faithful, shaping us gently and precisely.

I also wrote this book to remind readers that light is meant to be shared. When we trust God and offer what we have, He multiplies it. He brings joy. He brings healing. He brings hope.
My prayer is that Hearts Ablaze would encourage families to read together, to talk about faith, courage, and kindness, and to remember that God’s light shines in every heart. May this story help readers of all ages discover that their glow, however quiet it may seem, is seen by God and needed in the world.
Finnel is a firefly with a problem.
His light is dim, his wings are unsure, and everywhere he looks, other fireflies seem brighter and bolder than he is. As Finnel grows beneath the forest floor and into the wide night sky, he faces storms, fear, unkind voices, and the quiet question every heart asks: Do I matter the way I am?
Through gentle courage, patient growth, and unexpected friendships, Finnel discovers that God’s light is not given to impress, but to guide, comfort, and bring hope. When his small glow is finally shared, it becomes something far greater than he ever imagined.
Hearts Ablaze: Discovering God’s Light in Every Heart is a tender, faith-filled story about identity, courage, forgiveness, and trust in God’s design. Perfect for families, classrooms, and bedtime reading, this book reminds readers of all ages that even the smallest light can shine brightly in the darkness.
